Peace, Stability and Development Analysis Seminar

The intended purpose of the National Seminar is a event at which the key findings of the PSDA are presented in the form of a "Roadmap to peace, stability and development in Fiji". This Roadmap will be deliberated on by participants and responses and commitments will be elicited from national-level decision makers and planners.

the overall goal is to encourage commitment and action of government and other bodies to the challanges of "Peace, stability and development in Fiji"

From the above, three objectives of the National Seminar are proposed:

  • To present the "roadmap to peace, stability and development" in Fiji to a national and international audience of leaders and decisionmakers
  • To deliver pro-unity, pro-stability and pro-stability messages at a national level.
  • To seek commitment to action and identify ways in which the roadmap of PSDA findings can be included into development plans into development plans of government, other appropriate bodies and the international community.

Unleashing Entrepreneurship: Making Business Work for the Poor

  • Present recommendations of the “Unleashing Entrepreneurship” Report, and raise awareness among development partners, in particular the private sector, of actionable recommendations of the Report
  • Discuss and share experiences related to the impact of enabling policy environment and public-private partnerships on strengthening the foundations for the private sector and the three pillars of entrepreneurship: level playing field, access to financing, and access to skills and knowledge
  • Learn about successful private sector initiatives at the BOP that have resulted in the concrete improvements in the lives of the poor, and that provide an opportunity for replication across the region
  • Discuss the next steps with regard to possible actionable initiatives resulting from the UN Commission’s Report recommendations, with a focus on enhancing interventions at the BOP that maximize the potential of the private sector contributing to poverty reduction and achievement of the MDGs
