ACT Project The ACT Project established by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), financially supports, through micro-grants, grass-roots activities carried out by community-based organisations or by individuals. These funds assist activities which require a relatively small amount of support to be implemented (up to USD $ 5000) but which, nevertheless, have an important impact on the promotion and the protection of human rights at the local level. Through the ACT Project, organisations established in the Pacific have been funded. This has lead to the improvement of the daily lives of the Pacific Islanders. Present activities, funded through the ACT Project, include: Fiji Women’s Rights Movement, a non-governmental organisation in Fiji, has been funded to develop a video to be used as an advocacy tool for young women.
